giving thanks

The Watson's had a wonderful, quiet Thanksgiving at home this year. We were lonely for our extended family but really enjoyed sharing this tradition with just our party of five. Patrick and I had planned on going out for the feast but the boys begged and pleaded for dinner at home. I actually really enjoyed cooking it and was pleased with my turkey and stuffing, the most important parts for me! The best move of the day was leaving the dishes in the sink and on the table for an hour while Patrick and I took a nap on the couch and the kids watched "Home Alone" on T.V. A new tradition for sure.
We have much to be thankful for. And are unbelievably grateful.

LOVE this black and white shot. So cool! And the dinner looks so nice. Your boys have the best cook living under their roof, so of course they wouldn't want to go out to eat! Which reminds me, we're having my aunt who is an amazing cook over for dinner, so I may be calling you for some tips...

We had a quiet thanksgiving too. I am impressed with your cooking abilities again! My Patrick did our turkey. He is good at it so I don't even try. I forget we both married a patrick!

Love the B and W picture! Was this your first time cooking a turkey (a Thanksgiving dinner)? I've NEVER cooked one. I want to. Sounds like you had a great day.

What a cool picture! How did you do it? I love your quiet Thanksgiving-wish we could have been there too. But then it wouldn't have been as quiet, right? I'm sure your turkey and stuffing was much better than what we got on the airplane. Look, you used your china!

BEAUTIFUL picture. Sometimes it can be nice to be just your little family for a Holiday. We are gonna be doing that for Christmas this year, and I am actually looking forward to it. :)

I'm glad your boys talked some sense into you! Looks very cozy. I'm curious about your menu...is there a new post for your flog coming? I'd printed a sweet potato/potato au gratin recipe years ago but never tried because of the expensive cheese...but then someone made something similar at a friend's Thanksgiving Side dish party...and it was amazing...so I made it and it's awesome. I bet you'd love it...since you aren't a mashed fan...or is it all potatoes? Home Alone is hilarious. That'd be fun to show my boys! ....the word verification i just typed is "boyma" - cute:) You boy mama!
